We visited a neurologist and he asked to change to Valparin 200mg Chrono one tablet each twice in a day. Please tell me Valparin Chrono can make a child more drowsy/sleepy. Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

Valproic acid is usually drug of choice for childhood seizures. 400 mg twice day is usual dose for a six year old child , it may cause drowsiness initially , with time child get adapted to this , dose needs to be titrated depending upon control of seizures . Sleepiness appears to be related to medicine which will gradually improve.

Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us.
*Always check for history of allergy before taking any medicine.
Take care .
