Suggest Sleep Medication When On Amlodopine For High BP

I am presently taking Amlodopine for HBP, 5/20 mg. Will it be okay if I take ZzzQuil, the nighttime
sleep aid. I'm going through a difficult time right now and am having a bit of trouble getting my
brain to rest enough to go to sleep. Thanks for your help.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

You are on AMLODIPINE for hypertension and have sleep problems. ZzzQuil consists of diphenhydramine and is a OTC medicine. The drug is known to cause hypertension so should be avoided in your case. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist of sleep specialist for treatment. Medicines like BENZODIAZEPINES as Clonazepam, Lorazepam etc, or Z-Drugs as Zolpidem, Zopiclone etc can prove useful to get good sleep. These are prescription medicines and need prescription from as psychiatrist.
Apart from that improve sleep hygiene and you will improve.

Thanks, hope this helps you.
