Suggest Risk Factors With Leakage Of Heart Valves
my dad is 76 years old and had a aortic valve replacement in 2003. he is having some sort of leakage or regurgitation at the same valve and might have to go for another surgery or replacement. how serious is this and what are the risk factors. he is not diabetic.

according to grade of aortic regurgitation the surgery is planned so better to do surgery and if its not done means he may get angina, palpitations and dyspnoea also. and later he may develop PAH and all other symptoms and heart failure can occur . he may recover from surgery normally if he develops other complications it depends on prognosis after surgery

Aortic valve is very crucial one and having some risk factors in comparing to other valves, main risk is formation of blood clot that could reach to the brain, if surgery went un-eventful then this is just nothing to worry, even after surgery great care need to be taken for blood thinning medicines (anticoagulant ) hope this information helps, have a nice day.
