Suggest Remedy To Reduce The Side Effects Of Metformin

Hi, I am 34yrs old female on Metformin 2000mg ER taking one at night and one at morning. I am not diabetic or neither have PCOS. I was advised by my ivf doctor to be on metformin due to history of miscarriage. I gradually increased my dose to 2000mg starting from 500mg over a period of time. It has been only a week since I have increased my dose and also taking with food or just after food as advised. I have been suffering from diarrhea on and off and also getting fish burps since 3-4 days. I understand these side effects are due to metformin. What can I do to reduce these symptoms. Thank you.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that your symptoms are related to the use of metformin. It is known to have gastrointestinal side effects.

These are the most common effects with this medication. It is possible that the use of probiotics may decrease the effects that you are having but if this is not the case and the effects are intolerable then you may need to reduce the dose.

I hope this helps
