Suggest Remedy To Lower Gamma Gt Reading

I have a gamma gt reading of 174. I drink about three bottles of wine a week and a few beers which my doctor thinks is too much. I am a 50 year old male in good health and not overweight. I suffer quite badly with reflux (sometimes I can't swallow food at all) and gout which affects the big toe on my left foot. Fortunately, I haven't had an attack of gout for over year but I am worried about my gamma gt reading. If I give up alcohol, how long will it take for my ggt reading to reduce and will there be any lasting damage to my liver?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Return of GGT reading to normal after complete stopping of alcohol would take around 2 months.
2. You are also possibly suffering from Gout, which is getting exacerbated from alcohol.
3. Alcohol can increased acidity production and can cause gastritis and cause acid reflux too. If the liver functions at present are normal, there wont be any lasting damage. If it is already cirrhotic, it will last for forever. If it is fatty liver, it will get back to normal.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
