Dear Mrs,

AT first you need cardiovascular risk evaluation, in case of low risk there is no need of medication.
I would advise you first try to change your diet; avoid animal fat, use fish frequently, fish oil helps to reduce cholesterol levels. Avoid fast food, soda, if you are overweight I would advise you to lose weight.
If you still have high cholesterol level in a six month and your cardiovascular risk will be high then you will have to take medication.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Dr. Baghdasaryan
