Suggest Remedy For Wheezing And Cough In An Elderly Person

Hi, I m 78 years of age and when I stress my self during exercise, I begin to cough, wheeze when I exhale, and cough up blood an , or, bloody mucus. I plan to see my GP tomorrow and schedule a visit with a breathing specialist. Could it just be exercise induced asthma? I did work in the fiberglass industry for 12 years with no breathing protection.

Hi! The problem of wheezing and bringing up cough tinged with blood is called hemoptysis. This is not necessarily serious and can be caused due to bronchitis and other ailments. Rarely a lung tumor can lead to this. I doubt that you have asthma. My suggestion is that you need an investigation. So you need to take a sputum examination and a chest X ray to begin with. In most cases, you should be very easily cured of this problem. Obliged, Dr. Neel Kudchadkar
