My husband is 50 yrs old and has undergone cardiac problem during January 2014 and stent has been inserted in one of the arteries. He has no BP issues but recently when we did the sugar test, there seems to be a slight variation in the readings. Details are as below :1. on 03.08.2014 - FBS 135 mg/dl & PPBS 253 mg/dl 2. On 10.08.2014 - FBS 124mg/dl & PPBS 210mg/dl Since his intake of medicine is already high. I am worried not to add any more to the existing intake. Please suggest if regular medication is required in his case or any oral glucose tolerance test is required to be done. Please suggest and do the needful.
Dear madam, Your husband's blood sugars are slightly altered. If this is the first time you have tested sugars its better to go for a GTT( Glucose tolerance test) and start him on mild medications like metformin for Diabetes. In view of the cardiac issues it is better to control sugars. Hope i have answered your query. Please get back for any further queries. Dr.Riyaz Sheriff
