Hello. I just got my TSH results back from ER trip. It was 70.3. I got a dose of IV thyroid medication. I ve been on level 237mcg for over a year now. My endo DR. thinks everything will be ok. Is she right. Should I listen to ER Dr. about wanting to take thyroid out? I need help.
Hello, Thanks for posting in HCM. High tsh points towards hypothyroidism and getting thyroid out will only worsen the problem more. You are on quite high dose of thyroxine and i would recommend you to continue with the same. Also only relying on tsh values sometimes doesn't give the whole pictureof the condition. I would also advice you to get a free T4 and free T3 done so as to exactly understand the status of thyroid profile for you. Because you were on the said dose for a year, your tsh shouldn't had been still so high that is why the advice. But all said and done continuation of thyroxine is recommended and also better to increase the dose if necessary. Hope it answers your question. Thank goodness
