Suggest Remedy For The Painful Blister At Back Side Of Tongue

I have an unbelievably painful blister at the back sideside of my tongue the past 4 days. I have been using bonjela but it is not reliving pain! I then got anbesol which numbs the pain for about 5 minutes, it is affecting eating, talking and even hurts when i sneeze! I am just wondering if i can have an idea on anything else to help the pain? I know eventually it will go away but I also need to be eating proper and need to talk for my job so I really need help asap.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain you are suffering from APTHOUS ULCERS also known as CANKER SORES which can occur due to a number of conditions like Stress, Nutritional deficiency [iron, vitamin B12 and folic acid],taking excess of sour and spicy foods, hormonal changes, certain medications, toothpaste composition, mechanical trauma like tongue bite, cheek bite etc..

You should do warm saline gargles..
Gargles with 1:1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water will help..
Apply milk of magnesia over the ulcers..
You can take Ibuprofen for pain..
You can still apply numbing gel for relieving discomfort specially during eating..
You can apply Chlorohexdine containing gel like Hexigel or Corsodyl Dental Gel as it has antimicrobial properties..
Sucking ice pops can relieve inflammation..

If still there is no relief you may need a Steroid course under supervision of a dentist..

Hope this information helps..
