Suggest Remedy For Swelling On Gums

I grind my teeth from stress and my dentist wouldn't give me a custom mouthguard. So my father helped me buy one from the store and I fitted it. I don't think I fit it correctly and it makes the gums behind my front teeth swell in the morning. I also think one of my teeth in the front, the one to the left of my right canine, was knocked loose from the grinding. It aches and I can wiggle it a little. I don't think there's any openings with my dentist and I don't know what to do about the tooth. I'm not sure if my mouthguard is making it worse or not, but I think it might be. I don't know what to do, I don't want to lose it even if it isn't too bad right now. My next dentist appointment is in December and I'm scared waiting that long will make it worse.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your question first of all I would like to tell you that it will be better to consult an Orthodontist or any other dentist as your dentist does not seems to be doing justice with you..
Now answering your questions point wise..
1. If you have teeth grinding habit secondary to stress you definitely need a Mouth Guard and custum made are the best fitted and an Orthodontist will definitely get one fabricated for you..
The one you are wearing right now might have sharp areas ver the tissue surface causing injury to the gums so either get the areas trimmed or stp wearing till you get a proper fitted fabricated..
Over the use gums apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine to relieve pain and discomfort..
Cold compresses can be done to reduce inflammation and swelling..

2.If your canine has become loose t needs immediate attention and splinting atan early stage can prevent further mobility..

3.For stress you can do meditation to reduce stress and engage in the activities of your choice..
At times anti-anxiety medication can be prescribed by a physician..

If you have any further queries feel free to ask by asking a direct question to me by going to my profile..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

Sometimes a improperly fitting dental appliance can cause trauma to gums & eventually swelling. This is happening to you i think. Also size and shape of jaw & teeth varies, therefore custom made mouthguard should be used, if regular one is not fitting properly.
First of all, you should stop wearing that mouthguard. You can use metronidazole 400mg thrice a day & apply Dologel ointment over it. Your swelling will disappear.

Also any dental appliance should be used as prescribed by dentist. You could take opinion of some other dentist as well, if you are not satisfied by your dentist.

Don't worry you would be fine
Hoping your query is solved
