Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi - i have a 2 year old daughter who i think strained her neck. It started about 3 weeks ago, she started dancing wildly and all of a sudden she started screaming and crying and holding onto one side of her neck....so i knew at that point she must've strained it.....fast forward to 3 weeks later, she has these 30 second screaming fits about once every few days, and always holds on to the lower back of her head on the right hand side....so her neck...i took her to her peds office and they said it is a strain...my daughter is very very active and is always doing flips and so on....does this sound right? I trust my pediatrican very well....I have known him for 34 years and he is excellent...she has no other symptoms....
Hello. I just read you question. I am sorry your daughter is experiencing pain. The diagnosis of strain does sound correct. It seems like she continues to aggravate it with her activity. The treatment for strain is rest. Sometimes warm compress helps as well. However, we all know how difficult it is to make make an active child rest from physical activity. With time the issue will resolve and the occasional warm compress, especially when she feels the pain, should help.
