Suggest Remedy For Stomach Ailments

Hi, I am a 37 year old female. I am good shape and stay active. For the past few weeks, I have been sluggish and my period was 18 days late. Last night I had stomach cramps, caused by gas. When I went to the bathroom, my stool was soft and a greyish brown. There was a lot of red blood mixed in and also red blood in the water. when I went to wipe, the toilet paper was covered in blood too, similar to when I have my period. I had just had my period, so I wiped around my vaginal area but it was clear, so I know the blood had come from my rectum. This morning, I am a little dizzy and my stomach feels a little crampy. I am wondering if this could be caused from stress or if it could be something of a more serious nature.

Hello,

Per-rectal bleeding along with soft stool, blood on tissue paper without having menses is surely indicative of blood from the intestines.

Hence, I would advise you the following in such a situation:

- Get the stool tests and if there is any evidence of an infection get a course of an antibiotic and metronidazole along with probiotics and get the results.
- If there is no improvement within a few days of treatment then you need an opinion of a gastroenterologist, colonoscopy, CT scan of the abdomen to get the exact cause so that a specific treatment can be given.
- Till then have plenty of oral fluids to keep the proper hydration.
- Soft bland diet.
- Take bananas, yogurt, and activated charcoal tablets.
- If anything serious is found, get operated if there is cancer or so.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
