Suggest Remedy For Spotting And Frequent Urination In An Elderly Person

My mother, who is now 80, has been experiencing spotting, frequent urination at night, a feeling of fullness of the lower abdominal region. She has been taking antibiotics for a week, but has had no change in symptoms. She would like to see a specialist, but is unsure what type of doctor she should see. My email is YYYY@YYYY

Hello there,
I can understand your concern for your mother's health. At her age she should definitely not have spotting and this needs to be investigated. She may even be having some urinary infection which needs a particular antibiotic after proper culture and sensitivity testing of urine. The best doctor for her to visit will be a gynaecologist who can examine and find the reason for her spotting and even treat her for her Urinary tract infection once confirmed. The Gynaecologist will do a local examination and blood tests and some scans if needed. Based on the reports your doctor will guide you for further treatment. Till then try to give your mother enough water as hydration will reduce her symptoms to some extent.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
