Suggest Remedy For Sore, Painful And Swollen Thyroid Gland
So I was sick for the last two weeks with a cold which turned into bronchitis and i never went to the doctor for medicine and I am feeling much better now, except for a cough and a kind of runny nose. But the other day I noticed my thyroid gland area was really swollen and is sore to the touch and hurts when I breathe sometimes and when I cough. What should I do? FYI- I am a smoker, so that also plays into the equation. Thank you!
Hello The sore, swollen area in your neck is concerning, especially in light of being a smoker. Causes could be an inflamed lymph node from the recent cold, thyroiditis, or even a tumor. Also, since you still have a cough and are a smoker you should have your lungs checked with a chest xray which can also look at your neck area. If that does not give any answers, you can always have an ultrasound of the neck which will help identify the cause of the swelling. Sometimes a biopsy is needed to look at the cells under a microscope. Bets regards
