Suggest Remedy For Sinus Symptoms Following Mild Concussion

My wife had (mild) concussion about 4 months ago. Shortly after, she started having sinus symptoms - pain in forehead, pressure around eyes, some headaches. She has had 2 courses of anti-biotics, uses a sinus rinse twice per day, and has 2 courses of steroid nasal drops. She had one appt with an ENT specialist who was unable to explain the cause, or treatment, of her symptoms. She has her next ENT apt in 2 weeks time. The various treatments do seem to control her symptoms to an extent, but essentially she is where she was 3 months ago. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Noted the history about you wife who had mild concussion 4 months ago and then developed pain in forehead, pressure around eyes, headache, took treatment with 2 courses of antibiotics, sinus rinse, steroid nasal drops, ENT opinion and so on.
As pre the history you have provided, the problem started wit concussion means the additional problems may be related to the nervous system more than the sinus problems.
Hence I would advise her the following situation:
Consult a Neurologist for clinical evaluation, examination and further investigations like MRI of brain, CT scan of Brain and sinuses to get to the exact cause and get treated accordingly.
The problem may be in the brain or so.
Sinusitis causes similar pains but there are other reasons that need to be confirmed or ruled out.
Till then she can have proper painkillers, symptomatic and supportive treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
