Hi I had a pimple or a bite that I kept scratching until it opened the skin and then scabbed. I picked at the scab, and now the last couple of days, it feels sore and is a bit red and swollen. Tender to the touch and throbs a bit. I m thinking it got infected. It s located on top of my shoulder towards my neck. What should I do?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be folliculitis with secondary infection. Kindly consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

Short course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs may be considered. Apply antibiotic cream.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel
