Suggest Remedy For Red Itchy Welts In The Chest Area
Hi. I live in Memphis Tn and am 69 yrs. old female. I exercise and am in good condition. Recently I broke out in red itchy welts on my front upper chest and throat. My glands looked swollen but we re not tender to the touch. I also came up with a tiny white looking pimple on my neck. After using all kinds of lotions, I finally started taking Claritan and using a cortisone lotion. This helped greatly. My question is: I have an appt. for a complete physical in 6 weeks. Should I be concerned? My guess is that it was the hives. Could it also be an insect bite or West Nile virus? I have been pretty lethargic since this happened but otherwise am keeping a normal schedule.

As per my clinical experience, the itchy welts over chest with lethargy do indicate possible dermatitis most likely. The possibility of west nile virus is least likely as it gives significant discomfort and you are able to keep a normal schedule. My guidelines at present:
- Keep the part clean with antiseptic liquid or soap
- Local application of aloe vera cream for herbal benifits
- Continue cortison lotion as well
- Keep blood sugar under control
- Wear loose, clean, cotton clothes
- Avoid prolong exposure to high intensity sunlight
- Eat balanced nutritious diet to combat your immunity which contains more of anti oxidants, vitamin C
