Suggest Remedy For Red Itchy Bumps On Elbow

Hi Doctor.I have red itchy bumps on my elbows. Started about 4 months ago. They sometimes appear on my hands and forearms, I have one near my knee. They are incredibly annoying and embarrassing. They sometimes are itchy. I ve gone to my family doctor and she prescribed taro mometasone. No signs of improvement after applying it twice daily for 1 week. I then tried oil of oregano and it did manage to clear up after a week or two of treating it (topically every night and 4 drops under tongue in the morning). I tried this for 2 weeks and it was practically gone, however, after stopping treatment, the red itchy bumps returned. I m now trying clotrimazole cream - it is improving mildly. I just want them to go away for good. Any ideas?

Hi,

You seem to have the skin disease known as prurigo. There may be some cause either irritant or allergen..like house dust, house dust mite, grass, pollen, fume, pollutants, cosmetics, deodarant, soap, clothes, wool or other... Dietary factors like sea food, nuts, soya bean,eggs..etc. Insects like mosquitoes, bedbug,flea...etc can also cause hypersensitivity.

I would suggest as follow..

- antihistaminic tab
- steroid tab in tappering dose
- steroid cream application
- avoidance of suspected irritant or allergen

I hope this would help you...

Thanks..
