Suggest remedy for recurring flu like symptoms, bloating and cramps

Hello, I m a female, 21 years old, 4 10 and 119 lbs. For a little over 4 days now, I ve been experiencing flu like symptoms, and stomach pains as well. I ve been in a new country, Spain, for over a month and each week have suffered some sort of stomach problem, mostly diarrhea with vomiting. I went to the doctor the second time it happened and they said I had gastroenteritis, but it has been happening repeatedly. Now, I have been having a fever on and off, I had diarrhea the first day and now I feel almost constipated. I am passing liquid only and it seems like I still need to pass a stool. All that s coming out is liquid and I feel no different after it. My lower stomach right now is very bloated and I have been getting severe cramps that last for a few minutes and then go away, but the cramps radiate to my back and pelvis as well. I have had slight bleeding but am not expecting my period anytime soon, so I found that strange. I m not sure what to do or take, especially since I am in a foreign country.

Thanks for writing in.

If you are having repeat attacks of diarrhea and vomiting then it is probably from enteric fever. This is a group of conditions including typhoid fever. The condition is caused by a bacteria which is spread by eating unclean food. It will help to get investigated for typhoid and enteric fever and get treated if you turn out positive in blood test.

If confirmed then treatment is a week of antibiotics with having clean food for the next 15 days. Drinking water should be safe and clean. Please eat fruits if you are traveling and avoid spicy and fast foods. Drink adequate amount of water and juices to keep you hydrated. Inform your loved ones of your health condition and do not hesitate to call for help in a foreign country. Please do not worry.
