She is stuck at school with no car but has on hand 2 different antibiotics to choose from as she just had a nasty one start draining and she can feel that there may be infection/ she has all signs and is tired and rundown:( she has Cephlaxin or bactrim- 400 or 800 mg- which should she choose?? General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello ma' and welcome.

First of all, try to get her to stop shaving the region for a while. Next, ask her to dispose of her entire shaving kit and replace it with a new set.

Next, ask her to keep the region dry and clean and take a shower at least once a day. Although the antibiotics should only be advised after an elaborate evaluation, I would recommend cephalexin. To be taken for the next 14 days, without discontinuation. But make sure you make it very clear to her that she cannot shave the region for the duration of the course.

She can also apply a warm compress to the region, avoid the use of cosmetics, deodorants, etc.

Best wishes.
