Suggest Remedy For Persistent Dry Cough

My 23 year old daughter has a persistent, dry, barking cough that won t stop. She was diagnosed with strep yesterday and has been on antibiotics for 24 hours, but the cough persists and she feels like she s been run over by a truck. What can we do to reduce/stop the cough?

Hi thanks for contacting HCM...

Noted here she has dry irritative cough by sore throat....

Try to relieve congestion so that cough will be suppressed...
Drink more water...
Avoid excess spicy and fried food....
Steam inhalation useful.
If need for congestion relief take oxymetazoline or benadryl ....
Antiseptic solution gargle can be done....

Avoid smoking....

If still cough troublesome dextromethorphan tablet or syrup can taken to suppress it...

Take care.
