Suggest Remedy For Painful, Swollen And Red Cyst On Inner Thigh

I seem to have a cyst or a boil on my left inner thigh that appears to be infected...its extremely painful swollen & red :/ plus is warm to the touch. I have no medical insurance I ve tried to extract the fluid myself and I can t seem to get anything to come out my brother has had a boil in the past and was prescribed mupirocin 2 % and he gave it to me tonight and I have just began to use it. Will this help or do you advise I see a dr? it s been going on for about 4-5 days now & Im to the point I can barley walk! Please help??? Tx

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of painful, swollen and red cyst on inner thigh. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like haematoma , lipoma , fibroma , cellulitis and abscess and it could be due to persistence of bacterial infection of hair follicle and due to underlying systemic pathology. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to clean the cyst area with soap and normal water , apply warm compresses and take benadryl twice a day . You should apply antibacterial ointment such as betnovate on it twice daily. If it doesn't get better then consult dermatologist for proper examination to prevent condition like septicemia . Doctor may check the consistency . Doctor may drain the lump , prescribe antibiotics , anti allergic and anti inflammatory.
