General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of removal of the kidney in Feb and hernia repair, pain in the middle of the stomach under the rib cage that hurts continuously.
The cause of the pain of the nature can be due to the following reasons:
- Neuralgia due to nerve entrapment syndrome.
- Scar causing the nerve entrapment.
- Fibromyalgia
- Costochondritis.
- Since your left kidney was removed it is more possible to have the nerve entrapment in the scar tissue.
I would advise you the following:
Get a clinical assessment done by a General Surgeon.
Try the medical treatment top get a control over the nerve pain with amitriptyline, gabepentin or tegritol which need a prescription.
If this fails a revision of the scar can help you to get a relief from the pain .
I find this answer helpful
