Suggest Remedy For Obstruction In Esophagus,belching,gagging And Vomiting

I had barely started eating this evening (around 7:30 CST) when I felt like my esophagus was obstructed. I have had this happen before but it usually resolves itself in 5 minutes or so. This evening it took a lot longer, and finally I gagged and vomited, which dislodged the piece of meat I had stuck. However, it still feels like there is something there. I keep belching, and every twenty minutes or so I gag and vomit what I think is the saliva I swallow (I ve been spitting most of it out as it collects in my mouth. I ve tried taking antacids/anti gas tablets, and pepto bismol tablets over the course of the night, but they don t help. The next time I gag, they come back up. I live in a small town, but we do have a hospital. Should I go there?

Hi,

Noted your history of obstruction in esophagus with vomiting of a meat piece and other foods but still feels that something is obstructing. There is similar history in past also.
This is most probably due to a real obstruction in esophagus by one of the following reasons:
Stricture of esophagus which is a benign condition.
Cancer of esophagus.
Achalasia Cardia.
This should be confirmed as soon as possible.
Ge a barium swallow to start with.
Upper GI Endoscopy and biopsy.
CT scan of chest.
All these will give the most proper diagnosis to decide what therapy will be most successful for you.
If the stricture is benign then dilatation will help.
If this is due to cancer then the Oncosurgeon will tell you the course of management.
