Suggest Remedy For Low Platelet Count & High Cholesterol

I had blood test yesterday & doctor s office just called saying I have low platelets & my cholesterol is is higher but I already take 40mg of pravastatin & 10mg of Zetia. The lady who took blood had to use two different veins at it was slow & she asked if I drink enough water. I m 75 yrs old, play golf about three times per week, work in the yard & I was told to get more exercise. He wants another blood check in three months but to eat fat-free diet. I think I eat a very healthy diet with small helpings. What should I do for low platelets? I don t even know what that means. I did not know this is a PAY site. Sorry, but I don t do that---limited income.

LOW PLATELETS COUNT IS called thrombocytopenia
you are on a very high dose of statin tablet ( pravastain) one of the most common side effect of pravastatin is drug induced thrombocytopenia ,though rare it happens.
tablet zetia which contains ezitimibe also causes thrombocytopenia.

Thrombocytopenia is found among people who take Ezetimibe, especially for people who are male, 60+ old , have been taking the drug for 1 - 6 months, and have High blood cholesterol .

so kindly ask your physician to lower the dose of statins and substitute Zetia with other lipid lowering medicines.

thank you , please do repeat your lipid profile every three months to taper off the dose of medicines you are on.
dont worry you will be fine soon.
