Good afternoon,
Iron deficiency anemia is quite common after gastric bypass surgery. One way to raise your iron is to eat high iron foods such as fortified cereals, red meats, molasses, spinach and to combine these foods with a high source of vitamin C at the same time (preferably food, not a supplement). Do not consume iron with a high fiber source, a high calcium source or with a multivitamin as these may decrease absorption of your iron. Thank you for visiting HCM.
