Suggest Remedy For Low Estrogen And High Testosterone Production In Female

I would like to get pregnut. I have been attempting to concive with my husband for 3 years. My doctors says that my body produced more testostore that estogen. They are giving me birth control to stop my menstral cycle (which seems to be a little excessive). Would it be wise to stop taking them and buy some estogen pills ?
Please advise, Thank you again for your time.

Hello
I have gone through your query.
I can understand your concern.

Testosterone is a male sex hormone, or androgen, produced in a woman’s ovaries in small amounts.

Too much testosterone can cause symptoms that effect a woman’s physical appearance and cause infertility.

Causes of high testosteron are Polycystic ovary syndrome,Hirsutism and congenital adrenal hyperplasia.
It is very important to find the cause of your hormone imbalance because this will determine the right treatement.

Birth control pills contain estrogen and progresteron in combination and this treatement is helpful to control the symptoms and to stabilise the menstrual cycle problems (caused by high androgens.)

-It is not necessary to stop taking your contraceptive pills and to switch to estrogen therapy because this is not the right treatement approach in your case.Your contraceptive pills contain estrogen and this is enough for your body.

About your fertility problem,i suggest to talk with your treating endocrinologist.Your diagnosis determine the solution for your infertility.

If you are a woman with a polycystic ovary,i suggest to try a medication called clomifene.
This is usually the first treatment recommended for women with PCOS who are trying to get pregnant.
Clomifene encourages the monthly release of an egg from the ovaries (ovulation).

But as i said earlier,it is necessary to discuss with your treating doctor about the possible solutions for your condition and your actual fertility problems.

Hope my advices are helpful.
Best regards.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Usually it is recommended to combine both estrogen and progresterone (as birth control pill does) in order to prevent endometrial cancer. It is not suggested to take only estrogen. So, you need to continue with birth control pills.

Best wishes!
