Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a rash that started on my neck a couple days ago. I havent changed anything or eaten anything different. It is super itchy and has a burning sensation after I itch it. I have tried anti itch cream and benadryl but it doesnt seem to help. Tonight it is starting to spread up my neck and it up to my chin. Please help!!
As per your complain it seems to be most probably an allergic reaction only and it seems that you are being continuously exposed to the allergen leading to spread of the symptoms and also ineffectiveness to the anti allergic medications.
Other cause for it can be Staphylococcus bacteria infection leading to severe Folliculitis. You should consult an Allergist or an Infectious medicine specialist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like blood tests, microscopic examination of the scrapings from the lesions can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
As of now you can apply Hydrocortisone ointment, take Allegra or Levocetrizine, do cool compresses over it.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
