Suggest Remedy For Insomnia After Stopping Ativan

My 90 year old mother has been taking 1/2 of a 1 mg (I think) of ativan for sleep every night for 40 years. Her doctor has taken her off any kind of sleep medication and now she can t sleep. He doesn t want her to fall. Is there any way I can convince him to let her continue to take the Ativan? I believe her sleep is important, also her quality of life. Doesn t make sense if the doctor is worried about addiction at the end of her life.

Hi I did review your concern.
Ativan for long term is not good. I understand your concern also but no doctor will do any harm to the patient knowingly. I would advice you to do certain nonpharmacologic manuvers like place light music, lightly tap on her forehead to make her sleep. Also a glass of lukewarm milk helps as according to some studies it is rich in serotonin.
I hope these manuvers help.
wish you a healthy life head
