Hello,

A combination of antibiotics can be given, especially in cases when the causative bacteria has not been established. The antibiotic choice is made on the doctors experience and the patients medical history (somebody may be allergic to some drugs).

Anyway, if the situation persists, I would recommend performing a throat discharge bacterial culture, which would guide the doctor better through the right treatment choice, based on the type of bacteria.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka
