Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you .. you re so kind. I was going to have hernia surgery this morning however after a few blood test they came and told me that my potassium was 72 and that I was at risk. I don t understand at what number should I be concerned also everytime I look at say a wall, a book, the water in the pool . . It looks as if there are red dots and squiggley lines that float to the top of things. I m so confused I m not sure what to do at this point.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of planned hernia case of yours postponed due to high potassium, although the number 72 is incorrect. Also noted the history of red dots and squiggly lines that float to the top of the things so got confused. I would advise you the following in such a situation. First of all consult an Ophthalmologist to have clinical evaluation, examination and get an opinion about the possible diagnosis and treatment. Secondly get all the reports re-checked, it is possible that you have a kidney disease and also hypertension that is causing secondary changes. Consult your Physician to get a clinical evaluation, further tests and proper treatment. You have to be really fit to have the surgery of hernia as it is not an emergency.
