Suggest Remedy For Hearing Loss

Hello, I ve been dealing with hearing loss for the past 2-3 years. It started one day when I got home from hunting and I put the phone to my ear. The dial tone sounded funny. It was deeper, quieter and broken/raspy sounding. I thought it was the phone going bad until I put it to my left ear and found that it sounded perfectly normal. I haven t been able to have a conversation over the phone using my right ear since. In the couple of months following that incident, I ve been to a hearing clinic and an ENT. The hearing clinic did a basic hearing test and a short examination and told me that I had some hearing damage, but I only noticed it because I have such good hearing. It kind of sounded like he was telling me it was all in my head. He then recomended that I see an ENT. After looking at the hearing test results and a more thourough examination, told me there that there was some damage and the best course of action was prevention of further damage using adequate protection. He said that sometimes, some of the loss will return over time. Since then, I m pretty sure it s getting worse (although it s kind of hard to tell). While driving, I struggle to hear someone speaking from the passenger seat, especially women with their higher vocal range set right in the range where the damage is worst. Even with little engine noise, I m constantly asking people to speak louder. Often I turn my head to use my other ear and that works fine, but you can imagine that s not the best idea while driving. I realize that there are very limited options for this kind of thing, but I kind of feel like both doctors downplayed its significance. When I use a single ear phone in my right ear, it is impossilbe to get the sound to even come close to the fullness, richness and general volume that my left ear experiences, regardless of volume or equalizer settings. It s like trying to hear using an FM radio on a weak station, except the static has been replaced with holes. Any light you can shine on this would be much appreciated.
