Suggest Remedy For Fever And Cough

Hi doctor, i am a 50 year old female, 5 1 in height and 75kilos in weight. I am having fever and cough and i haven t yet gone to the doctor. What i would like to know is if there is an antibiotic that i can take for the cough and fever that will not cause my hyperacidity to act up. thank you.

You have not mentioned the duration of cough. If it is more than 14days its recommended to do a sputum examination. You have not mentioned whether the cough is productive or not. You may use cough syrup accordingly.
Cough and fever may occur due to various causes. Viral causes will not respond to antibiotics and follow a 4-5 days course to cure by itself. Otherwise Coamoxiclav 625 three times daily for five days is most commonly used antibiotics in this purpose if not having allergy to this. It also has a minimum side effects.
You also didnot mentioned the fever range. Fever with chills and rigors may have different cause. Otherwise if it is more than 100F you may take paracetamol 500 with ranitidine 150. It will control fever.
But as there a lot of causes of fever with cough along with serious lung pathology. Its better to visit nearest hospital.
