Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 54 and have been diagnosed with major depression disorder for years now. The meds I am on at the present (Cymbalta 120) work very well for me. When younger (10-20 years ago) and stressful days were happening, I seem to handle them okay. Now, they seem to take a toll on me, mentally and physically. By understanding it helps with acceptance of both my condition and myself.
You are 54 and diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. You were able to handle the stress when you were younger but now you cant handle them. You are taking Duloxetine and are stable on it. Duloxetine is a SNRI drug and it is a good antidepressant drug. If you are stable on this drug then there is no need to change the drug.
For handling stress and depressive symptoms you can take help from a Psychologist. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a modality of treatment in which abnormal cognitive distortions and faulty though processes are corrected with help of a therapist. This therapy involves cognitive restructuring and involves the application of these into normal day to day practice. Have diets rich in fats and complex carbohydrates and low in fats. Start taking B12 and Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplements and you will feel better.
Thanks, hope this helps you. Take Care
