Suggest Remedy For Constant Head Tremor Due To Dystonia

I have distonia and have had this head tremor since I was 30. My sister had this same problem and tried to solve it by getting medication from the Dr. she was going to, but she seemed to need more and got another dr. prescribing meds , she ended up in a nursing home when she was in her early sixies. and died when she was 80.. I didnt want to take this route so after going to a neurologist in Ottawa, tried the meds the Dr. prescribed but found I couldnt breath 13 or so days after taking the meds so a few years later I tried again and after 10 days or so I fainted from taking them. Since then I have been struggling with the effects of this decease and only taking a lorazem pill 0.5 mg. when going to the dentist or a funeral , now I know I have to get something that will agree with me , and I need to see a Dr. like Dr. Da Silva , that I have heard is very compassionate and I can t wait 6 months for an appointment. Do you think you could help me, by the way,, I m now 84, but other than this I m energetic and walk and swim a lot and eat a healthy diet. I was going to Dr. Grimes but his meds or botox never worked for me so I want to go to another neurologist. Sincerely and desperate, Kathleen C. MacDonald

Hello Kathleen!

Welcome on Healthcaremagic!

I read carefully your question and understand your concern!

I would recommend trying clonazepam with a low dose and increase slowly for your head tremor. This drug is better compared to lorazepam, which is not recommended as long term therapy, because it can cause addiction and tolerance.
Starting at a low dose (0.25mg at night) and increasing slowly (0.25mg every 3 days), until reaching the dose of 2mg daily, will help improve your situation, without experiencing its adverse effects.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
Kind regards, Dr. Aida
