Suggest Remedy For Chronic Cough, Headache And Throat Pain

i have continuous coughing fits, very hard to clear white syrupy mucus, my upper right side on back is in pain, my head hurts now when i try to clear my airways, my chest hurts and throat hurt. This has been going on for two months or more now. Sometimes it is so bad (an episode) i feel as though i am going to black out. Even after eating or drinking something i will have a coughing fit. They can be ongoing for an hour at times and three or more times a day or night.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

Throat pain, continuous coughing or chest pain are the symptoms of upper respiratory infection or allergic asthma or allergic bronchitis etc.

You should be tested for CBC,ESR,sputum examination and X-ray chest.

You should take symptomatic treatment like bronchodilators ( steroids, alpha agonists, anticholinergics), anti-allergic
(antihistamines and mast cell stabilizers) with analgesics if there is pain.

You must take full course of antibiotics
(quinolones or macrolides preferred) for at least 5 to 7 days to prevent any super-infection.

Avoid cold water or drinks.

Take steam inhalation and steroid nebulizers regularly or till the infection subsides.

Avoid exposure of dust and consult pulmonologist for further advise.

Regards,
