Suggest Remedy For Chest Pain

I have had episodes of severe chest pain, radiating to my left shoulder and jaw, I break out in a cold sweat, feel as though I am going to pass out, and I can feel my heartbeat increase. It happens randomly, and never during any type of exertion. This has been going on for about 2 years, and was happening occasionally (once every few/several months), but I have had 3 episodes in the past 8 weeks. I am a 40yr old woman, and there is a strong history of heart problems on my dad's side of the family. Even though it's terrifying when it happens, I hadn't really taken it seriously because the pain seems to subside briefly if I drink cold water. The pain is nothing close to indigestion/heartburn, etc. (I have had that in the past). I assumed if it was a heart attack, the pain wouldn't go away. The episodes last anywhere from a few minutes to 15-20 minutes. I do have an appointment with a cardiologist in 2 weeks, but after researching on the internet, I'm much more concerned now. Any ideas what this could be? If it happens again before my appointment, should I go to the ER?

By your history and description of pain it look like cardiac pain only. And if occur again before the appointment of cardiologist you should definitely go to ER snd get done ECG. Since you have family history of heart disease and palpitation with left sided arm pain etc it may be anginal attack. And the anginal attack tend to subside after 15-20 minutes. And if your cardiac work up is normal than you should think for GERD. But first rule out cardiac problem.
