There is no evidence of any effective ayurvedic medicine for
bipolar disorder. In my practice, I come across patients who stop conventional medicines due to side effects or unsatisfactory response. Usually, they become worse after stopping medicines.
Rather than deciding to stop medicines, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. There are several alternatives to
sodium valproate, prolinate etc. One such alternative is
Lithium which has been proved to be effective for bipolar disorder and has become a gold standard. Adjusting medicines properly, dealing with the side effects is an art and a science that is possible with proper doctor-patient partnership.
You should also check with your doctor whether you need some basic tests such as
thyroid level etc that may affect your condition.
Again, in my opinion, it is not a wise to stop medicines without consulting your doctor and giving trial to other medicines that have proven track record.
I hope this answer is helpful.
