Suggest Remedy For A Painful Bunion

I went to get my bunion loked at and to see if they could shave it down and I was told if it doesn t cause me pain let it go.It does cause pain with closed shoes, so I try to watch what I wear. Why won t they shave it instead of waiting until it gets worse and then doing surgery to which I cannot take all that time off because I an self employed?

Hello,

The only treatment of the bunion is surgery. The other remedies are to prevent it getting worse and to help with pain. Avoid wearing high heals or shoes that tightens the bunion. Use ice in case of pain or inflammation- for 20 min 3 times per day, not directly in contact with the skin. Use Ibuprofen 400mg every 6 hours as needed.

They do not do directly surgery because there are some criteria that needs to be fulfilled in order to qualify for insurance reimbursement. So yea, it needs first to go to the stage where other remedies do not work anymore.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
