A large pill seems to have bruised or scratched my esophagus this morning. There was a delay of an hour or so before the pain became noticeable. It seems to have moderated somewhat in the past 4-5 hours but it is still evident when I swallow or take a deep breath. Is this likely to self-heal with time or should I go to the emergency room? Can anything be done for this condition? Martin Heisler, Lake Oswego, OR
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The bruise in the esophagus takes around 24-48hours of time to heal. Nothing to be panic, if it is not reducing in 2 days, then consult a ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
