Suggest Remedies For Vulvar Itching

A few months ago, I experienced what I thought was a yeast infection. Very itchy in the Vulva area, and I was scratching to the point where I would wake up in the middle of the night. Now the itchiness is gone but I m left with a small part of the outer labia looking lighter than the rest of my skin. Almost as if it looks like really dry skin. Is it okay to still get waxed? Will the color stay like that forever?

Hi! Sorry to hear that. Sounds bothersome.
Usually, itching is one of the most common sign of an yeast infection which is seen as a result of imbalance in the normal yeast and bacteria seen in the vaginal secretions. It would be best to avoid waxing, shaving the area as it worsen the itching and discomfort. Wearing loose cotton undergarments to keep the area well aerated, avoiding tight fitting clothes, cleaning the area from front to back during the shower, after intercourse or using the washroom, avoiding douching and scented products, probiotic rich foods like yogurt may help. Using a vaginal wash and OTC anti-allergy medications may help with the itching. If the symptoms persist or worsen even after trying all these measures, please visit the treating doctor for further a vaginal examination and further management. Hope you feel better soon!
