Suggest Remedies For Tired And Strained Eye Post Recovery From Pink Eye

I had pink eye which I had drops for and it has cleared up. However since that has cleared I am having problems in the afternoon with keeping my eye open and it wants to close. I have been using drops for dry eyes but does not seem to help. I am waiting for my doctor to give me a referral for an ophthalmologist. Is there anything I can do until I see the ophthalmologist.

Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to conjunctivitis which is an inflammation of the conjunctiva.

Because the conjunctiva is very important in the production of the tear film, any injury, even temporary like an infection, can impair the production of tears.

So, conjunctivitis can reduce tear production and cause dry eye. I suggest to drink liquids, rest and use artificial tears to help with the dry eye.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
