My fiancee has a sunburn on her shoulders that she got on Saturday, just this morning she woke up to clear liquid coming out of it, when she turned the light on, the skin wad black. So my fiancee being smart decides to squeeze the liquid out, well.. That made it so the black part fell off. We just unwrapped it and the gauze has yellow crusty stuff all over it not to mention she s in a lot of pain. What could be wrong? Should we go to the ER? Is it infected? Help.
Hi. As per your case history of sunburn, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with spf more than 30. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching and NSAID like ibuprofen for pain. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
