Suggest Remedies For Severe Pain And Cramps In The Legs Due To Arthritis

I have been checked repeatedly for pain in my left leg. I keep being told it is atheritis. It hurts a lot. I get cramps in both of my legs front and back. How do I help myself, My hips hurt when I lie down. What is going on with my body. I will be 70 soon. I also have congestive heart failure. Can that contribute to the pain I am experiencing? Sorry forgot how to spell artheritis

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is dr Dorina Gurabardhi.
I understand your concern.Arthritis is a painful and degenerative condition marked by inflammation in the joints that causes stiffness and pain. Osteoarthritis, the most common type of arthritis, gets worse with age. Some advices to treat arthirtits pain naturally are:
-Lose Weight
Your weight can make a big impact on the amount of pain you experience from arthritis.
-Get More exercise.Regular movement helps to maintain flexibility in your joints.
-Use Hot and Cold Therapy
Long, warm showers or baths especially in the morning help ease stiffness in your joints.Cold treatments are best for relieving joint pain. Wrap a gel ice pack or a bag of frozen vegetables in a towel and apply it to painful joints for quick relief.
-Include the Right Fatty Acids in Your Diet
Everyone needs omega-3 fatty acids in their diets for optimum health. However, these fats may also help your arthritis. Fish oil supplements, which are high in omega-3s, may help reduce joint stiffness and pain.
-Get a Massage
Some medication that you can use are:
-Analgesics. These medications help reduce pain, but have no effect on inflammation. Examples include acetaminophen (Tylenol, others), tramadol (Ultram, Ultracet, others)
-Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs reduce both pain and inflammation such as ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) and naproxen sodium (Aleve). Some NSAIDs are also available as creams or gels, which can be rubbed on joints.
-Corticosteroids
-methotrexate (Trexall)stop your immune system from attacking your joints.
Hope my answer was helpful,thanks!
