Hi,

After reviewing your query I'm of the following opinion:
- Most fever encountered in general practice are viral, self limiting and require only symptomatic treatment, so you should wait for 3-5 days more in order to see the effect of medicine or for the effect of fever and cold to come down.
- Later, if the symptoms still persists it will be a good idea to get a second Opinion or consult a Pediatrician who before labelling a fever as viral, will look (as a compulsory routine) for pallor, jaundice, neck stiffness, abdomen for liver & spleen and auscultate the chest, and may ask for routine investigations like Hb%, WBC, ESR, Widal test, Urine & X- ray chest, till then
- Bed rest with blanket.
- Liquid diet avoid cold water exposure to wind, bath (only sponging), give water and fluids every 2-3 hours.
- Give fruits like apple, papaya, mango, banana, and avoid giving citrus fruits, grapes.

PS. Though many fevers in general practice are viral and harmless, but one must be aware of the common causes of the fever, i.e. one should always try to find the cause of the fever by evaluating the associated symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
