Suggest Remedies For Needle Stick Injury

I was cleaning my yard and picked up what I though was trash and it turned out to be an old insulin needle. I got a small prick on my finger. I went indoors, milked the site quite a while, cleaned it with soap and water and alcohol. What else should I do?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
What precautions you have taken following needle stick injury with an old insulin needle seems to be fine. In case you have not been immunised against tetanus during the past 6 months, you need to take a shot of Tetanus Toxoid.
Along with that it would be advisable for you to take Post-exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) against HIV.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
