Hai! My totla cholesterol is 321, triglycerides - 200, HDl- 64, LDL - 183, total CHO/HDL ratio - 5.0, LDL/HDL ratio- 3.1 Does it need attention? I m a female, age-43 yrs, No smoking, regular exercise, not obese, No other habits for high cholesterol . What can I do?
For this reason, I would first recommend some diet changes: avoid fast food and fatty food, avoid sweets, try to eat more fibers and food rich in omega 3 fatty acids (walnuts, fish, fish oil, olive oil, etc.).
If this does not help to reduce LDL levels, I would recommend taking low dose atorvastatin for a couple of months.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

My 30 year old brother had a cholesterol check and came back at 7.9, he was told to go on a low cholesterol diet. He exercises often and is not over weight. I am 35 & decided to get mine checked, it came back at 5.6 & I too was told to go on a low cholesterol diet, I am about 1 stone over weight but regularly exercise (ran a marathon 2 months ago!) My other brother, 33 years old, had his checked and was even higher than my other brother. He is very slim & exercises regularly. His doctor told him not to worry about it and carry on as he is! His diet is a lot poorer than mine, i cook everything from scratch etc. What are your thoughts on this?
I am 23 years old male. 4 months back i got tested for cholesterol and my levels were: TGL: 210, LDL: 82 and HDL: 47, during that time i was having a poor lifestyle. My weight was 82Kgs (height 174 cm) with no exercise and poor diet with lots of junk and occasional chicken intake (about once in 10days). Although we have a tendency of borderline cholesterol in our family, it only occurs after the age of 60. Now 4 months later, my levels are TGL: 106, LDL: 89 and HDL: 49 with my weight: 69Kgs. I have not made any drastic changes in my lifestyle or food, just added 40mins exercise (running/jogging). I have not tried any weight loss programs, just substituted 1 meal each day by salads and giving up non-veg food completely. Now I am concerned if this could just be a temporary thing or is it now so that i have a tendency and my levels can shoot up anytime? Is this anything to do with the family tendency, or can this be explained by lifestyle issues? Can this happen without a family tendency as well? I am worried because my insurance company and doctor got me alarmed.

Should further tests be conducted or not. Doctor says he is ASYMPTOMATIC and heart rate/pulse is normal.
