Hi, thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

I can understand your concern. With minor injuries its not common to have complete loss of erection. Usually in spinal cord traumas due to severing of nerve erectile dysfunction is seen. Before labelling trauma as cause of his ED other causes should be ruled out completely.

If there is any history of hypertension or diabetes then that should be taken care of. Get his blood pressure and blood sugar levels checked to rule out the causes.

I'd also advise you to get him tested for hormones. Get his serum prolactin, testosterone, cortisone levels checked. This would rule out hormonal cause. Hyperprolactinemia is one of important cause of ED.

If he is on any drugs then that should also be evaluated. Usually some antidepressants, antihypertensive drugs are known to cause erectile dysfunction.

Once these causes are ruled out then Color Doppler of Penis should be done. This will rule out any vascular cause. Surgical evaluation is also needed.

For erectile dysfunction medicines like Tadalafil or Sildenafil can be used. These drugs if used on SOS basis help to build strong erection.

Thanks, Take care
