Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I ve been suffering SVT episodes over the last 20 or so years. I have learnt to live with the condition. However of late, in the past few days I ve had it constantly and have not been able to stop it through the usual method of taking deep breaths and bearing down and so forth. It has been relentless and ive lost sleep due to it. Should i be worried. Mike.
Because there is a change in the way the rhythm issues are behaving it is best to have an ECG done and confirm that these new episodes that are lasting and not responding to the usual measures are SVT. I would also recommend you to have a TSH (thyroid function check), CBC and ERS done.
Depending on the findings, the doctor will prescribe you the needed drugs. Generally, verapamil or metoprolol are good choices to control SVT.
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family Physician
